Perhaps that should be standard dress code for LMF socials. I'm sure AC would look really good :D

Greetings to Melonfool - we miss you :-)

Oh, no, such a shame to miss so many people! The car got sorted about 4pm. I did vaguely consider coming but couldn't have left here before 6pm and given the mess that is GN trains currently I'm afraid I couldn't face it!

Have one for me! (water)

A very good evening. Very nice to have Bouleverse with us.

Good to have some newcomers along.

Almost at Gatwick, so halfway home.

I have had word from the crowd at the Clachan. 100,000 came....!

Well, 9 Fools.

Numbers vastly boosted by news of my non-attendance.

Shame to have missed them all actually.

It was a lovely evening, which could have only been improved by your presence Mel!
Early autumn social? I'm off at music festivals, but I'm sure someone could 'step up to the plate'
:-)

What a turn-out! We almost had double figures. I personally had a blast. Met a few new people and enjoyed too those old codgers that I've met before.

Thanks to all those that bought me beer - especially if circumstances led to my not getting you one back. If so I'll try and make up for it next time.

Especial thanks to those that overcame quite a lot of adversity to attend. Much appreciated.

Charmed,
Chris

It was great to meet you all; many thanks for my drinks. I got home safely with the assistance of taxi driver, a buggy at Marylebone and kind fellow travellers, interestingly all female and immigrant, apart from PD whose assistance in getting me to the taxi was much appreciated. One insisted on her son driving me to my car at the other end of the car park. Very kind. I had not stood for such a long time in one place before and hadn't realised what an effect that would have on my gammy foot. I shall have to invent a lightweight telescopic stool or find out where I can get my foot fixed abroad, stem cell therapy being only available for racehorses in this country.

Sorry not to meet Mel.

Lorna, I was giving thought to your problem with standing, starting with the idea of a shooting stick with a rubber tip. Possibly better would be one of those combined stick and stool things, which you see in catalogues from time to time. The ultimate is one of those turbo Zimmer frames which have brakes and also a seat. Maybe a bit too cumbersome for the underground, but worth thinking about.

It was lovely to see you at last, and I hope that you can make it to future gatherings.

It was wonderful to meet the 8 other fools, thank you all for coming, especially those from outside of London. I appreciate you making the effort.

Till the next time?

These are £20 delivered from Amazon, and are really quite light and yet robust at the same time, with an aluminium tubular build -

Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare Height Adjustable Aluminium Cane Seat - £19.14, with free delivery on orders over £20 -

Perhaps something to consider, given the relatively small outlay. I bought one for a relative with a similar issue, and was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of it, considering the low cost. The Amazon link above has many very good user-reviews from satisfied users too.

Cheers,

Nice to see you all. Managed to get home eventually, and my poor head is throbbing today...
Melonfool, how's the wheel?

The tyre guy said there is no damage to the wheel, just a mark on it, which I am glad about!

I now need to read the manual and work out how to deactivate the tyre pressure warning light

I sent a copy of the receipt to Chris as I gather there was some disbelief at my story. Hmph!

I'm not Chris but I also received a copy. Had to use my data allowance to open it. I don't think I was saying there was disbelief, as such. Merely that your train timetable post gave a hint that, maybe, thou were protesting too much. ;)

Come what may, 4 Lemon Foolish Virgins attended, which is promising for the future. One of those has yet to appear on this thread. You'd have enjoyed meeting him.

I did indeed send it to both of you - but I know Chris actually saw his copy. :)

Shame the guy didn't write the time on it! I spend quite a lot of my time thinking about train timetables at the moment, what with GN Rail being so rubbish (reminds me, still not put in the claim for Thu) so I expect it's just a symptom of that.

I like meeting most people, unlike me, they tend to be nicer in real life!

I think that was being discussed last night and there was a hint that you were more pleasant in real life. I can't recall if I agreed or not, as I don't recall finding you unpleasant on board (unless I'm the target). ;)
