Well, its nice that someone makes me feel welcome.

I don't know what the the Friday Faction is doing on the campaign trail, but it was very nice to get a phone call to draw my attention to this particular poll. I do like a good poll, and this one, whilst not being one of those, was at least a poll, so for that I am thankful and have duly cast my vote for Thursday. As instructed by The Thursday Transnationalist's chief Whip.

Roll on the 20th, when the votes are announced, and all the money spent on Friday drinking can be poured into the National Health Service. Unconfirmed reports on the side of an Aviva bus claim that this could be as much as eleventy billion pounds.

I didn't have a poll to decide how long we should keep the poll open for. And how long would that poll have been available?
There is no Widdy option.

Well, quite frankly, the poll is poorly worded and everyone is voting for different things with different reasons, so whatever the outcome it will be faulty, it's clearly rigged. Unless my choice, wins.

If it's, say 52%/48% it will still be unfinished business. Unless my choice wins. In which case, you lost, get over it.

Chris, don't forget our impromptu meeting at Dark Star's Brewery. That might be a fruitful venue in the future as a regional event.

I think you are on to a good idea there Terry. High time these city slickers escaped to the country for some proper beer. I think what we could do after this one is settled is to have a TLF social at the Hopfest. Even if it's just you and me again it will be great.

Dark Star are in the middle of nowhere (well as much as anywhere in the south east can be - more than a mile to the next built up area)
No train service....

According to them, they are in the "Middle of Somewhere" https://www.darkstarbrewing.co.uk/visit and, better still, not far from one of my favourite West Sussex pubs (at Ashurst).

As I recall they ran a free bus service to Haywards Heath station. using their preserved Bristol VR. See https://www.darkstarbrewing.co.uk/blog/hopfest-2016

I'm hoping the SVR will do something similar - we have one excellent local(ish) brewery -Salopian - and quite a few good ones

I'd not heard of Salopian, (or rather I had but in a rather different context) so I googled. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that not only was it a Brewery but also an inhabitant of Shropshire.

I was a little disappointed that it isn't considered to be a form of behaviour as an extension of the rather charming French word "salope". I suppose that it does mean that theoretically, one could make the acquaintance of a Salopian salope at the Salopian Brewery.

I don't expect that that's part of the tour though.

i am aware of the French word (approximately 'slapper')
oddly, salopettes are overalls (lit. 'Little Slappers'?)
