Very enjoyable evening though, good to meet some more Fools.

It was a good turn out last night, over a dozen Fools of the Lemon and not so Lemon variety braved the Mediterranean conditions to stand outside the Clachan drinking and talking until the lights were switched off. If we had been inside we would have been turfed out, but as we were already outside we were politely told to drink up. To be fair it was only a red coloured fish and a pink alien robot that were left by then!

I wish I could remember the names of everyone I met for the first time last night, perhaps we should have had a role call but I certainly spent some time talking with AleisterCrowley, MelonFool, PinkDalek, ahenry and tjh and it was great to put some faces to some of the people I have been speaking with virtually over more than a decade. Perhaps the Dalek could read out the full roll call.

Thoughts of sampling various exotic brews were dashed in my case by the discovery that Timothy Taylor's Landlord was on tap, so many pints of that were imbibed instead...thank you to anyone who bought me a pint and I hope I managed to reciprocate, if not, I'll catch you next time.

Full marks to AC for literally waving the LemonFool flag so that all could find their way to our huddle in the middle of Kingly Street (was Trump on the naming committee?) as we drank and talked bigly into the night. I was told that it was the biggest crowd ever at a Fool event...but perhaps that was just Trump talk again in our post truth world.

I would tell you what we talked about if I could remember, I think shares got a quick mention at one stage, mainly it was just good old gossip and banter though, much more my thing.

The Dr Who villain of the pink variety kept me talking long enough that I managed to miss my train by a few minutes and ended up waiting an hour for the last train from London (sounds like a song) which rolled into my station at just after 3am.(engineering works between Woking and Basingstoke, they said, but perhaps that badger had eaten the junction box at New Malden again.)

Two hours later (a journey that usually takes only one) I was fortunately awoken from my slumbers by a loud announcement that my destination had been reached. Thankful for the high volume of the tannoy system that prevented me from waking up at Southampton Central instead, I eased my body into some semblance of order and stumbled off the train into the cool Hampshire night/early morning

Reassembling my bike, having removed the front wheel and locked it with the frame earlier, proved something of a challenge, due to fatigue and Landlord but it was a breeze to whizz home through the empty streets. I don't think I saw any cars on my journey (probably lucky since perhaps my perception of my biking ability was somewhat higher than the reality.)

I will do this again...when I recover...perhaps in 2018!

Cheers...I think I'll go back to bed now.

John

Ah, you would have been getting up about two hours after I got to bed then.

There again I don't have that much to do today, whereas I guess the corporate wheels have to keep on turning.

I know, I know... I have a cold. Now made worse by 'beer flu'
Actually managed to get the 2221 train from Paddington which was good going - I normally end up on one of the 'all stations' slow trains, sharing space with drunks, milk churns, and crates of chickens
Good turnout - the first person I bumped into was Trev 'Apollo007' (get yourself registered Sir!) Also spotted - ahenry, Pink Dalek + friend, ursaminotaur, shinygoldcar (who did a round trip from Coventry - hope it was worth it!), Melonfool, hardGrafter, tjh, and many more!

A  C

An excellent Virgin Social report from the Fool fka Skr.... and good to meet you. ;)

My apologies, I am a slow drinker, but you did say it would only take you an hour to get home. How was I to know you'd miss the train? If you hadn't insisted on discussing such matters as Pink Floyd to Genesis to Jon Anderson to rugby you wouldn't have had your eventful journey. Then there was something or other about shareholdings.

A good evening, as many have said, and thanks especially to AleisterCrowley for getting the event organised and to melonfool for telling him the date upon which it was to be held.

I don't recall any repeatable quotes of the evening but, to add to those already mentioned, both forlesen and a former regular Asagi not only said they were coming, up thread, but did so.

Then there was a bloke who thought his board name was JakNife. Not sure I've ever encountered him before.

I make the head count about 14 - including the non-registered members.

Thanks for all the drinks. I'm sure I owe a few ...

London prices...probably cheaper than the gin and tonic that someone didn't drink though!

I gave that to G&T ahenry, so hopefully he managed to drink it ,or find it a suitable home...
It was bought 'just in case' as I went to the bar and got a random round and guessed that was what you were drinking (although you were driving, which I didn't know!)
