Aleister
Casting the Runes brings up a few things on IMDB
Or might it be this, which matches the date?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_of_the_Demon
Not sure how I will find time for all of this anyway!
Did anyone watch Whitechapel? Very very underrated TV show IMHO. i thought of it just now because one episode references the film London After Midnight.

Re: Random chat on Monday
It is indeed Night of the Demon - obviously more 'action packed' than the 1911 short story, but an excellent film.
The soundtrack is sampled in 'The Hounds of Love' by Kate Bush too

Have finished the MR James TV adaptation, very slow, could have fitted it into half an hour. I gather it's a lot different than the book though.

Re: Random chat on Monday
I've seen the Michael Hordern 'Oh, Whistle, and I'll Come to You' from 1968 which was very good - sounds like the newer version was only loosely based on the original story

For a very different take on it you can try Sam Raimi's https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drag_Me_to_Hell
...but I can't hear mention of "runes" without "Science Ficiton Double Feature" being triggered on the internal soundtrack
"Dana Andrews said prunes gave him the runes and passing them used lots of skill"

Re: Random chat on Monday
I had a chatty text from a friend at 11.30 pm
It really made me realise how much I miss those.
Also it made me sentimental for the times I'd get home from being out with friends, text to confirm getting home okay and then end up texting or talking again for ages even though you'd just come back from seeing each other.
How things have changed.
Night all.

I'd not thought of it for years: I'm going to buy a copy now, immediately
