Small Company Filing options (Companies House)

#46197

Postby PinkDalek » April 16th, 2017, 3:28 pm

The changes summarised below have passed me by completely (until now):

https://ion.icaew.com/talkaccountancy/b ... ng-options

It appears that abbreviated accounts can no longer be filed for accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2016.

Then there's something about ‘filleted’ accounts (apparently not new) or filing an abridged balance sheet, abridged profit and loss account, or both.

It all looks far to complicated for me to understand the various options, without investing many hours on the subject, but what have others decided to file in the future and why?

My company accounts were filed as 2 pages, a title page with 4 lines on
Registered Number
NAME OF COMPANY
Micro-entity Accounts
Period end date

and the page with the accounts which had 3 columns to the right of the descripion, there being nothing in the Notes column

NAME OF COMPANY Registered Number
Micro-entity Balance Sheet as at 31 May 2016

Notes 2016 2015
£ £
Fixed Assets
Current assets

Debtors
Cash at bank and in hand
Prepayments and accrued income
Creditors: amounts falling due within one year
Net current assets (liabilities)
Total assets less current liabilities
Accruals and deferred income
Total net assets (liabilities)
Capital and reserves
Called up share capital
Profit and loss account
Shareholders' funds

For the year ending nn mmm 2016 the company was entitled to exemption under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.
The members have not required the company to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006.
The directors acknowledge their responsibilities for complying with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 with respect to accounting records and the preparation of accounts.
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the micro-entity provisions and delivered in accordance with the provisions applicable to companies subject to the small companies regime.

Approved by the Board on nn mmm 2017

And signed on their behalf by:

Hope that helps a bit.

Edit, the Notes 2016 2015 and £ signs are supposed to be the column headings.

Many thanks for your reply.

Yours is a micro-entity. In case you want to read it (24 pages long and micro mentioned 57 times!), this appears to be another voluminous paper on the various changes (if the link functions):

https://www.icaew.com/-/media/corporate ... ashx?la=en

I'm sure it is all wonderful as the Foreword includes "the creation of a light-touch regime for micro-entities" but how are directors supposed to keep up to date with the changes or even be aware of them?

However, as your Balance Sheet was at 31 May 2016, the accounting period is unlikely to have commenced on or after 1 January 2016, so at least you have some time to establish if any of the changes apply to your company (rather than spend time earning an honest crust).
