Expat tax in Australia
Expat tax in Australia
My daughter is moving to Oz and I am trying to see how complicated her tax will be and whether she will need professional help. She runs two Performing Arts businesses in the U.K. which she will continue to administer when abroad. This will generate self assessment income from one and from the other there will be profits from her share in a partnership. In addition she will let out the flat she is in the process of buying. Initially she doesn't intend seeking employment locally. Any guidance on her tax situation would be much appreciated. thanks

Presumably the flat is in the UK.
On that front start here https://www.gov.uk/tax-uk-income-live-abroad then go to https://www.gov.uk/tax-uk-income-live-abroad/rent noting the comments about Get your rent in full and Get your rent with tax deducted and form NRL1i https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... duals-nrl1
Is she an employee of one of the Performing Arts businesses or a shareholder or what?
The impact of the other being a partnership is beyond my knowledge but presumably that partnership will remain UK Resident.
The 2003 Australia UK Double Tax Convention, mentioned by FredBloggs, should be here https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... x-treaties. It has clickable sections on the contents page.
Dare I say it but maybe professional advice is needed, especially on the partnership share of profits, or speak to or contact HMRC's specialist team (maybe seeing if the "international number gets one through quicker), who've historically had a good reputation:
