just an easy question for anyone with knowledge!!

the P11D shows benefits in kind etc...eg healthcare and suchlike

do we get one for each company
ie..if change jobs in September would you get a P11D for the company you left....AND one (later naturally) for the company you joined

I realise you get P60s for each but P11D ???

From memory you wont get multiple P60s (the P45 provides the info to the new employer) but you should get a P11D from the old employer. But possibly not till a couple of months after the end of the tax year. Make sure they have a forwarding address.

thanks Scott
I was aware re P60s and that is no problem

the P11D is more of an issue as the company went insolvent
so P45/P60 no probs as obtained quickly...but need healthcare info for part year for tax return!!!!

and of course cannot just pro rata the 16/17 years figure as costs/cover etc may have changed

thanks again

if anyone has alternate views please advise...I want to be able to show HMRC I tried if questioned

Well personally I would pro-rata the 16-17 figure and put a note in the white space. You're not going to get a P11D and they won't submit one to HMRC either. There's no one at the company to ask so how can you get a better figure? The same will apply to HMRC. I think they will accept an estimate in the circumstances.

I started this reply earlier and have now seen what Gersemi said, which would appear to be the correct answer but will include my reply for the sake of it!

A few searches suggest attempting to get the P11Ds from the administrators/liquidators (if appointed).

However https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/any-ans ... eturns-etc from 2002 includes:

... since it does not affect the company's liability to tax the Revenue do not usually insist on a return of P11Ds. ... by the liquidator.

Here's another https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/any-ans ... -companies which includes I've not dealt with this in practice, but I believe that the IR will accept that the individual's information may be estimated or approximate. albeit from 2003.

Have you looked at https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/ to see if anyone has been appointed (assuming it is a UK limited company) even though they are unlikely to assist?
