Never mind the higher probate fees (elsewhere in this forum), the cost of a death certificate is going up from £4 to £11

The cost of public sector pensions is escalating due to longevity.

Any Government will need to increase such charges to cover those increasing costs.

Am I alone in seeing the incongruity of funding costs caused by longevity by an increase in the cost of a death certificate :o

Another example of a fee becoming a tax. I could see that providing certificate 1 might cost a tenner or more, but the extra copies should be a fraction of a cost, reflecting the printing/signing time.

You would think so wouldn't you. A tenner for the first one, then a couple of quid each for the next one (at the same time mind: if you go back later, it's a tenner each reflecting the effort involved).

I'm surprised the legal profession didn't complain, as I'd just get a few and have a solicitor (that I was probably seeing at the same time) do a few certified copies, so it'll put the onus on them.
