I have submitted a paper self-assessment tax return, (downloaded and printed), but inadvertently sent it to the wrong HMRC office. Can I have any confidence that it will find its way to the right place? I could submit another, but fear that would complicate the issue.

You should be fine. Your form should have your taxpayer identification number on it so if needs be they can redirect it easily through their internal post.

A lot of self assessment forms go to BX9 1AX, wherever that is. That's where my form went a few days ago (and has done for many years).
