P60 - should I get one ?

I took voluntary redundancy from my long term job end of last year. I was expecting a P60 from them. Having followed it up with paygroup apparently they only issue one for people employed at the end of the tax year (5/4)
Is this normal? I was in the same company for 29 years so no experience of this ! I can get the figures from the HMRC site I think, and I have the final Jan 23 payslip with all the redundancy payments and running totals on. I haven't had any other employment since leaving - hurrah!

I did get a P11D with pro rata healthcare etc on it.

cheers

That is correct. You only get a P60 if you are still employed at the end of the tax year.

The equivalent information will be on the P45 you (should have) received when you left employment.

Thanks, just seemed a bit odd. I do have the P45 somewhere!

Actually the P45 doesn't have the final numbers. My last working month was December 2022 and they obviously ran the P45 on these numbers.
I got paid my redundancy/PILON etc in January 2023, of which some was taxable, so the P45 is short by c£19k
Luckily my Jan payslip YTD totals and the numbers on the GOV.UK/HMRC site agree !
Not sure why HMRC need the pay/tax numbers entered on my tax return when they have them already. Just as a confirmation that I agree?
