DAK if one can register for online access to the self assessment accounts of children? As far as I can see, one cannot!
So she wants to go online, look at his tax statement and request the refund.
So much for 'customer service'!

Interesting question. This website suggests a minor can setup a SA account. But may need to ring HMRC first to obtain a UTR, which is pre-requisite for an SA account.

I’m not convinced this will let you “look at his tax statement” and provide the information you require. Generally, the point of SA is that you have to provide all the info yourself.
