Hi folks.

Share reorganisations involving different classes of shares listed shares

• listed shares – you value the different classes of share on the first day when values are listed for the shares in the reorganisation

is that a closing price?

Sort of, but not so simple. See http://knowledge.freshfields.com/m/Global/r/700/changes_to_hmrc_s_rules_on_calculating_value_of_listed

Simple would have been nice... you couldn't give me simple?

A whole $2 range, guess I'll drop the companies an email and see if they can supply with some 3 day old data...

Thanks.

One thing that hadn't crossed my mind until I started reading, these are shares in a UK based companies but are only quoted in the US.

Does this change anything?

Many further thanks.

The regulations themselves include a page about Securities or strips listed on recognised stock exchange outside the United Kingdom:

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2015 ... ion/3/made

Extract only;

3.—(1) The market value at any time of securities or strips which are not included in the official UK list but are listed on a foreign stock exchange is—

(a) on any day the exchange is open, the price shown in the foreign exchange list for that day as the closing price for the securities or strips on that day (or if more than one price is shown the lower price plus one-half of the difference between those two figures), and

(b) on any day the exchange is closed, that value on the latest previous day on which it was open. ...

What exchange are they listed (as against quoted) on?

Thanks, I ended up back at a '92 act which obviously wasn't where I needed to be.

Both NYSE.

They are:

http://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/dlph

and

http://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/aptv/real-time

Since it's effectively a ratio to divide up the original cost of acquisition, isn't a closing price is a closing price is a closing price?
