Fresh October

Eerily empty & quiet house.
Last of the 4 started uni last weekend. Abandoned in Birmingham with a tray of doughnuts, and instructions to have a nice life.
The horde has dispersed.

Parents trailing quietly around the house with bin liners, disposing of kid debris. Hoovering bedroom floors as the become visible. Paused on the clean up, as we have run out of wheelie bin space.

Planning on going on the first holiday for >20 years without kids. Leave in about 10 days time.

Wonder if the missus fancies champagne tonight?

Got back from a week in Granada, Southern Spain.
Glorious city, beautiful architecture, food, weather etc etc. Even the graffiti is artistic - they have a local Banksy equivalaent, who is very gifted and quite prolific.
Feeling much refreshed, and feel reconnected to my other half - rediscovered conversation not permanently interrupted by various youngsters' antics.

Visited youngest up at uni, verified she was starving yet. So far so good.

Rediscovering grownup interests - planning on going to a talk on Heriditability of Intelligence, and Impact on Society tomorrow night

Saw David Byrne in concert at the O2 last night with my other half.
A grand spectacle - mesmerising in bits. Loved it.
Brought back memories of seeing the Talking Heads in Hammersmith Palais as an undergraduate nearly 40 years ago!

Lovely to go out without worrying about what the kids are up to. I am sure that they are up to mischief, but as they are all at uni now, we don't know about it and don't feel we have to worry about it.
