Its so great to see you all arriving here on the Lemon!

Yes, it's brutal this new crowns system. Quantity not quality is the watchword now! Well, I can to do that :-) But I had 12,849 post on the Fool. It is going to take another decade, I suppose, to get that far again.

Hi,

Well, my mentor has come back with (positive) comments on my professional registration application so that's me sorted for this weekend, I think I'm about 60% there. There's still a fighting chance of it being ready for the last day of TMF

I was thinking about the Financial Independence part of YTST. I don't much post about my financial goals, but many of my goals are underpinned by a strong drive for financial stability. Even the decluttering ones, they can give you more motivation. I have to say that without the decluttering of my office, I would never have felt ready to do my professional registration. Same for health goals - I had a period of time where my health was a potentially big blocker to employment and that was a particularly scary situation to be in.

So, for next month I'll stick to drafting my usual goals, but I'm going to put them into context with a financial "back story".

Looking forward to a re-invigorated naming thread - I'm assuming we're going to do a poll of polls to celebrate our new home!

And Lottie, and all other lurkers, do please post. We'd like to meet you !

Well said, FS101. Spot on. When are we getting this reccing feature? Definitely needed.

Can we do polls yet? I have not seen it.

Reporting in from the decorating, to say it is on schedule despite the challenge conditions. Very overcast and rainy here today, but I have finished the emulsion in both rooms. I'm not sure about the grey in Bedroom 2, Valspar Shetland Cardigan, though. It's a bit too definite for me, it might need doing again. The other room is Crown Sail White, which is excellent; an elusive, very pale brown and grey tone that alters with the light. Second coat of Dulux Trade Brilliant White Satinwood on the woodwork tomorrow. Ive just been to B&Q to get some more.

I suppose we can have decluttering threads on here too, since there isnt a specific decluttering board and as you say. FS101, it's about clearing your head as well as your house.

Hi all,

Oh, I am really really really struggling with this application :(

Must put my head down and keep going...I did promise I would get this done before TMF pulled the plug

T, are you on track with your decorating?

Vibes for your application FS101! Just divide it into chunks and keep doing each one in its allotted time slot. That's the only way I have been getting this dratted painting done. Write loads of stuff in the evenings and then edit it in the mornings with a clear head.

Today was second coat of Satinwood on the woodwork, plus various oddments of filling and what-not. At least is was sunny, though it was that early morning winter sun that shines low straight through the house, shows up every fault then vanishes shortly after lunch.

Both bedrooms are now completely finished. I just have a couple of tiny snags to sort in the hall. The coast is clear for tomorrow's job, which is to clear 5 rooms and the hall cupboard ready for the flooring fitter on Tuesday.

I would be on track with my plan if I hadn't decided to alter the colour of bedroom 2, which means emulsioning it again. Shetland Cardigan is worrying me, I think I shall re-do it Sail White like the other one. Time was I would have got up and done it tomorrow at crack of dawn, but currently I have neither the energy nor the daylight. I shall probably leave it until next weekend, after the flooring.

Just to de-lurk for a moment to say 'Hi, so nice to see lots of old e-friends here' and going back to lurking again.

November has been interesting chez Felix - we've decided to retire again and are selling all our cattle and possibly our farm - the question now is - What will FelixC (and Mr FC) do next, and where will we do it?

Answers on a postcard please to...

I am sorry it was only a fleeting visit, FelixC. It would have been interesting to discuss your plans with you. Do let us know what you decide, wont you?

Tonight the Tortoise crate is almost completely empty. It's wonderful! Bedroom 3 is clear, as is the kitchen and the hall . The hall cupboard just has the washing machine in it, and the sitting room has a table. The study has me on a chair and my computer on a table, surrounded by all this echoing empty floor. I am really enjoying the sense of space.

The cat is worried . She has been unsettled all day as room contents gradually vanished and Henry the terrifying hoover kept appearing from all angles. Tomorrow will be even worse. Strange men will operate power tools as they ply the floor throughout. Difficult with cats, you can't take them out like you could a dog.

I shall have to leave her to it, to hide either in my bedroom or in the garden. An early start tomorrow and few more jobs before the tradesmen arrive, and then I shall be going out. I propose to spend most of the next three days shopping and socialising, in order to be out of their way. What a great excuse! It will make a welcome change after all this deadline-driven decorating.

Hello, it's lovely to see this board replicated over here - I have been lurking on the 'other side' but following the new start on TLF it's probably time I got some goals together and got on with stuff.

My main thing over the next two months is to prepare for getting our bathroom replaced in early January. We need to choose tiles and floor coverings as well as prepare for the two children's birthdays and of course Christmas (sorry if it has been mentioned too early!).

I'll work on some proper goals, but in the meantime - any hints for choosing tiles / floor coverings for a smallish victorian bathroom??

Hello all! I am a long time Fool but never managed to post on YTST though loved the idea. I am going to give it a go (despite only half the month left). My tasks are not as planned as they should be (maybe this will help?)

1. Update financial spreadsheet: I am too much in cash - have been frozen by fear from investing for at least half a year. I need to put my big girl pants on and make some decisions (maybe in December) - so November's job is going to be just making sure my current situation is all up to date in the spreadsheets.

2. Work wise I have a conference talk to give on Thursday that I am slightly stressed about (not least because it is two nights away from home which I have not done since my daughter was born: not worried about her as her Dad is more than capable and she will have a lovely time, just not looking forward to missing her two nights in a row).

3. Plant spring bulbs (pretty sure I should have done this already ...)

4. Big charity shop run: we've done a big declutter of our books and some other bits, but there is so much that I wanted to Gift Aid them so the bags are all still sitting around. Still waiting for the stickers to come through ... must chase if they don't arrive in the next couple of days.

5. Start to sort out my room: the charity shop run will help, but I still have too much detritus in my room (books, papers, magazines, bits of fabric, Christmas gifts - gaaarrgghh!) I've been pretty sick this summer and it's just built up, so now I'm feeling mostly better it's time to get stuck in. Not expecting to finish this in November, but I want to get it done before Christmas when doubtless there will be a new influx of *stuff*.

The move has dug over the ground and all these new posters have sprung up. This is excellent. Welcome to YTST, DeBriefed! Welcome back, hectorcat!

Black and white was the thing for old bathrooms, hectorcat. Have you looked on pinterest?
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=pinte ... 80&bih=625

Yesterday evening I posted from the centre of an echoing empty space. This morning I got up early and moved the computer and final oddments into the only two rooms that were not to be floored. The fitters have been in all day preparing the floor ready to lay the Amtico. This evening I am posting from the cosy nest of my bedroom, surrounded like a hoarder with piles of my possessions. Ive spent most of the day out, partly taking refuge at a friend's house and partly doing various errands, 'Un-shopping' has been very rewarding, with three bagfuls of unwanted ironmongery returned to Screwfix and B&Q, plus a trip to the tip with timber offcuts. I shall be able to do some proper shopping tomorrow with a clear conscience.

Time for a quick update on a couple of goals

Work
2. Planning meeting with organisation I want more work from
This went well, feeling well integrated into the team, hopeful for future work.
4. Go live on big project Post-launch tidying-up done too now.
5. Start groundwork for major events of 2017 Everything currently needed for one done, and much for the other

Play
2. See local friends Done well here already, and another date in the diary.

Still consumed with laziness over the garden tidying, oh well. Will get to it eventually.

Tortoise, thanks for that - I had looked at the black and white, but a part of me thinks that they look like public conveniences  I do quite like some the pictures with the greener tiles. It's a tough choice.

What are people opinions on the flooring - can you get tiles that aren't too slippy for small children and aren't too cold without underfloor heating which we can't afford.??

On a positve note I have now finished off the childrens Xmas shopping bar stocking fillers which is great.

Please don't have tiles without underfloor heating, its freezing on bare feet in the winter, you will have to put mats down. Get some nice vinyl. Vinyl is easy to get up if you have plumbing problems, too.

Hi,

Lovely to see lots of new posts - and posters too !

Progress on the application has been slow but...

...I have completed my audit. As an auditee. On a technical document linked to *the* project that has been engaging me for - ooh - months.

It was originally scheduled to take > 14 hours over three days, but it has all been completed in 8 hours. Whooop whoop.

I haven't passed with flying colours 'cos the project is well, um. But I gave a good showing of myself, and my boss said he was impressed.

Now, to that interim appraisal that will be coming along soon...and a big push on the 17th for that application :)

I am a numpty :)

Have just realised...

The boards are closing tomorrow ! (or tonight ?)

Somehow I had in my head that the 18th was a Sunday so we could have a party on the Sat night.

I think I might be missing my deadline after all.

I will eat dinner and see what I can finish in the next couple of hours

So, work has started on the garden-tidying. I realised that one of the things that was holding me back from starting was that there was so much to do.

So I told myself I didn't have to think about how much I managed, just that anything more than nothing was progress.

Progress, accordingly, made.
