Morningstar Ratings

Question from a new self-investor so please excuse me if it is a basic one.

Is eliminating all funds with a Morningstar rating of less than 5 or 4 a good way to cull an extensive list of potential funds to chose from?

So sort first by annualised returns (on either of 1, 3, 5 or 10 years), then selecting all 5 star funds, then undertaking more objective research to determine which is the most appropriate fund?

Welcome to The Lemon Fool EssDeeAitch.

This is a duplicate question to the one you've asked on the Investment Strategies board.

Rather than have two threads discussing the same question, I'd recommend anyone wanting to reply to the above question to do so on the Investment Strategies thread, which can be found here -

In future, if you're wanting to attract the attention of people on a number of boards, it's always best to just post your question on one of the boards, and then provide a 'Cross-Post' URL link to that question by posting a thread on the other boards, pointing at the actual question.

Here's an example of a cross-post, so you can see how it works -
