Hi,
Possibly looking at adding some global high yield bond stuff to my SIPP portfolio (which is currently dominated by a diverse portfolio of equity OEIC funds). The usual reasons I guess - some diversification to reduce volatility & the possibility of good returns from some slightly higher risk bond investments.
Does anyone have a favourite fund or provider for this kind of thing? I'm struggling a little with my SIPP provider's trading platform at the moment, which is making it difficult for me to assess the relative merits of the various funds I can choose from.
(can I ask for this kind of specific recommendation on this forum without it being deemed to be "investment advice"?!)
Thx

Re: Global High Yield Bonds (SIPP)
I should say I suppose that I'm a little nervous about possible interest rate rises hitting bond prices over the next few years, so I'm treading carefully & may decide not to go down this route at all.

If you are talking platforms and buying individual bonds, the problem can be that more often than not you can only deal by phone. If it is funds or ETFs the usual issues of charges and active or passive management arise just as with equities.
There are "star" fund managers in this sector as well.

Re: Global High Yield Bonds (SIPP)
Thank you. To clarify: I'm looking in the first instance at funds rather than picking out individual bonds.
Will read the article you sent the link to in a moment.

Are you willing to look at investment trusts?
If so, try
Invesco Perpetual Enhanced Inc (IPE)
New City High Yield (NCYF)
TwentyFour Select Monthly Inc (SMIF)
All taken from the John Baron portfolios but difficult to buy on a discount.
(I hold a couple of them)

Thank you - much appreciated. Yes, would consider investment trusts. I'll have a look into your suggestions.
