If anyone is as confused as I was when I looked at the numbers of Edinburgh Worldwide IT shares in my HL portfolio today, then its all due to a one to five share split which appears to have occurred yesterday (28/1/19). I see that HL have explained the action in a message today - it looks like the subdivision took place on shares held at close of business on 25/1/19.

Yes, I was a little surprised as well! I had a look at the old RNSs and the share split proposal was raised in the Annual Financial Report here https://www.investegate.co.uk/article.a ... 229588533K and voted and passed at the AGM on the 23rd January.

Cheers, OLTB.

I nearly had a heart attack when I saw a significant drop in my portfolio value - they calculated the value based on the new share price and the old quantity (now fixed)

It might be worth being wary of the dividend yield quoted on some brokers' and performance websites for the next 6 months or so. They often get messed up by share splits.

Yes, not a bad shout that richfool. Having worked on the data side for a long time there was often a screw ups on stock splits as we had to multiply or divide (Dividends, NAVs, prices (mid/bid/offer), Treasury shares, EPS, volume figures, Shares and historic transactions too) and often something went wrong. Splits were too rare on CEFs to make it worthwhile automating so often you were relying on a man and his calculator!

This particular company doesn't pay dividends but i have noticed it has screwed up graphs on HL for exactly this reason.

I will drop a line to their provider to get it fixed up!
