"Witan...has reviewed its asset allocation and decided it will almost halve its holdings in British shares from 30% of the trust’s total to 15% with effect from next January. This is down from a peak of 60% 15 years ago."

"A spokesman burbled: ‘Our managers invest in companies on the basis of their shares’ potential to deliver above-average returns and to outperform market indices."

"Scottish Mortgage (SMT) is even more UK-averse, with only 1.6% of assets allocated here compared to 40% in the United States of America and 17% in China."

In terms of Total Return over the last 5 years, WTAN has underperformed compared to some competitors.

The next graph shows the relative performance of VUKE (FTSE100) compared to WTAN - WTAN must see this as continuing and thus don't want to be "in" the UK market.

Not a surprise. The uk market lacks the high growth sectors often found in the us and Asia. Instead we’re dominated by banks, miners, old pharma. Not a tempting selection.
