ETFs and ISA eligibility

How do I check if an ETF is eligible for my ISA?

I hold two China ones at the moment:
HSBC MSCI CHINA A UCITS ETF HMCA:LSE:GBP (ISIN IE00BF4NQ904) and
HSBC MSCI China UCITS ETF HMCH:LSE:GBX (ISINIE00B44T3H88).

My ISA platform had no problem letting me buy them, in my ISA, but I am a little alarmed to see them listed by FT.com as "UK ISA No".

I've looked at the List of reporting funds A to Z (https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... ting-funds) and they both appear.

I've also looked at Stocks and Shares investments for ISA managers "Find out which stocks and shares you can purchase, make or hold in an investor's stocks and shares ISA" (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/stocks-and- ... hares-isas) and that is no help, doesn't even mention 'reporting funds'.

One link I found on a search of lemon fool, https://the-international-investor.com/ ... e-held-isa , seems out of date (links fail) and overly pessimistic e.g. "US or Asian mutual funds ...are immediately ruled out.."

Lastly if they are not eligible, is it my fault for buying them or my ISA platform's fault for letting me?

That page is about US/Asian listed funds (i.e. listed in New York/Singapore etc), not about UK listed funds that happen to invest in the US/Asia.

Both IWeb (Halifax) and Interactive Investor list both ETFs as eligible for ISAs (and SIPPs).

If these are the ft.com pages causing you worry, I'd suggest ignoring them as inaccurate:

While the titles (and URLs) clearly say "ETF", in the details, they both say "Fund type Open Ended Investment Company". And that, and "UK ISA No" also goes for the extremely-commonly-held-in-ISA VEVE Vanguard FTSE Developed World ETF:
