International / Global Index ETFs
Hi all
I was wondering if anyone knew of any pairs of ETFs that track the same index? At some point in the future I am going to invest in one and then if I get close to the CGT limit will sell and immediately buy the other one.
I am particularly interested in the international / global index ETFs and they would need to be income/distribution variants.
For example, is there a direct alternative to VWRL?
Note: I can find alternatives in the fund space but that would mean that I would have to sell, wait a day until it goes through and then buy the match (albeit I know that this isn't a long time out of the market). I just have a feeling that if I can do it via ETFs it will be simpler / cleaner.
TIA
Del

There is the HSBC MSCI World (HMWO), which is distributing and cheap. This isn't the FTSE World, so it's missing some emerging markets and it's bigger in US exposure.

Thanks Xlox - appreciated.
Seems strange to me in a way that there aren't many (if any!) matching pairs for international/global index ETFs.

SWDA is USD Accumulating and IWDG is GBP Hedged Distributing, so not simply just the income version.

Thanks mc2fool.
Again then - there doesn't appear to be any matching pairs at the international / global index level?

I wouldn't be so concerned at an exact match, given that you are looking to switch between the two. Have a look at
https://www.google.com/search?q=LON:+VE ... ab=COMPARE
which compares VEVE and SWDA. Over time they drift apart, since SWDA is accumulating and VEVE is distributing, but they are essentially giving the same returns, and differ very little on 12 month timescales.

Thanks Genou
As I will be investing outside an ISA it would be helpful if they were income units - do you know if SWDA has a distribution unit as well?

There is no INC equivalent from iShares that I am aware of ( doesn't mean it isn't there ). There is GB00BP8RYB62, Fidelity Index World Fund P GBP Income
https://www.fidelity.co.uk/clients/fact ... arketCode=
which is equally cheap, and does distribute, but it is a fund . Depending on your broker, that could mean you get clattered by ad valorem fees

Thanks Genou - duly noted.
I would be using Interactive Investor so wouldnt be charged extra for holding a fund.

Out of interest - does VUSA have a matching pair? Not truly international, but maybe close enough.
Again, distribution units needed....

IUSA is the closest iShares equivalent with distributing units.

Re: International / Global Index ETFs
HSBC do a good value physically replicated and income distributing MSCI World index ETF. Code is HMWO, TER 0.15%. There are other MSCI World ETFs from Lyxor, Xtrackers and I think a few others, but HSBC is the best value.
