Hi All.

It seems pretty easy to get Annual Dividend Yields for Investment Trusts, e.g. the FT's Portfolio section provides them in its "Key Statistics" section.

However, the same route gets you to a "Profile & Investments" section for ETF's, with no "yield" or equivalent. Bloomberg has a "Dividend Indicted Gross Yield" available - is this about the best I'm going to get? You only get one free - but I only need two (VWRL and VAGP) and two browsers does the trick for that - but it would be good to know a generic way of obtaining the needed.

Absolute accuracy is not required - just a reasonable indication.

i find it best to never trust any yield info given on websites. you never quite know what you're getting. best to get the dividend info and calculate it yourself. of course with ETF's all you'll get is historic info. unlike IT's where you can have some degree of certainty over the level for the coming year. or a very good guess at least. VWRL is in $ so you'd need to decide on an estimate for the exchange rate...

edit: i often find that these web pages glitch and i need to click out of the "distributions" section and back into it to get the info.

Vanguard have a yield figure on their 'distributions tab' at the top

Given my need is only approximate (at this point in time at least - it might change later in life if I'm living off the proceeds) I may try the process once and if it gives a close match to (say) Bloomberg, take the easy way out.

In general, I measure the performance of my target portfolio rather than my actual portfolio - it's a lot easier and very close (I rebalance monthly*, if needed, to keep them in the same ballpark). In this same vein, I need to get a rough idea of yield to ensure the performance doesn't discount it completely.

Morningstar has a page you can search, either for individual ETFs, or by type (the "Morningstar Category" under "Show More" is probably the most useful), that includes yield:

Yes, prompted by you, finally managed to find something from Morningstar (in the "Portfolio NEW" section - whose title has an asterisk next to it, but it's unclear what it refers to).

For JustETF, the current dividend yield is a premium feature apparently, though you can get the historic actual monetary amounts (and impute a yield which will be fairly close from it).
