Time to BUY the silver ETF...
Bought silver ETF yesterday (PHSP) after reading a piece in Moneyweek which reminded me of the Gold:silver ratio. The short article started:
“Silver is a Steal – This is an excellent time to buy silver says Wirtschaftswoche’s Frank Doll. It hasn’t been this cheap relative to gold in a quarter of a century. It costs more than 85ozs of silver to buy an oz of gold. Etcetcetc”
Essentially, when the ratio exceeds 80, silver should be bought…
Also really like the look of the chart for the Silver ETF. Chartists get quite excited when a rising 50day MA crosses north of a rising 200day MA.
If you can access ADVFN, then you can see the chart on my personal thread here:

Thanks for your post Skyship. I would be very interested in an ETF that included Gold and Silver, in whatever proportions.

There is this one although it is listed in Canada I believe:

Lootman, thanks for these suggestions, but I am really looking for ETF's that are traded through the LSE and are not classed as foreign shares by my investment manager, otherwise as well as FX implications I would get charged higher fees simply for holding them in my account.
I am ideally looking for something which embraces gold, possibly even with some silver thrown in. To date my best option seems to be SGLN (physical gold only), perhaps with a small "helping" of PHSP. Otherwise, I had thought of something like Fresnillo (as a mining stock which mines silver and some gold). I had even contemplated GPM (Gold Prospect Precious Metals IT), but that is a very small IT that holds a selection of mainly gold and some silver miners and is very volatile, albeit at a discount of 23%.

Any current or revised thoughts on gold and silver exposure?
I hold SGLN currently, but keep thinking about adding exposure to gold & silver miners.

There's a recent poster expressing an interest in the ETF/ETC SLV

I'm using SLV for silver spot price correlation.
SIL for small cap silver miners.
Not bothering with gold. Silver normally outperforms it over a period of metals in favour

I had wondered about a miner like FRESnillo to capture gold and silver, but am wary of one country miners.

Yes. I forget which companies but the last time gold and silver did a major rally, a couple of companies never followed.
Much less risk in sector etf v constituent.

Constituents caught many out too in the telecoms sector. Whereas some etfs would have paid them well.
I have a preference to only trade stocks. A few days to 3 months maybe. Holds are mostly via etfs
One guy said to me "stocks these days are for institutions, traders and fools. Each with a role to play"
A little harsh but has a point too.
