We used to occasionally play a tape of a TT motorbike race (no, I don't know why we had one, maybe just for this) when driving slowly through town, made the pedestrians somewhat concerned and attentive as they wondered where all the howling motorbikes were, so maybe go with that.

Audible warning of approach, required but seldom used by cyclists. Used to be a bell, but can be the human voice. Reversing lorries do it these days, of course.

Thankfully the new requirement isn't for a bell or a beep sound. Imagine how unpleasant the street environment would be if all cars had to do this.

One of the advantages of electric cars is the reduction in noise - imagine how much quieter a town centre would be without ICE.

Then go and screw that advantage by adding a noise!

In fact if I ever bought an electric motorcycle, I'd like to have the soundtrack of a Micron equipped Yamaha RD350 2 stroke along with a canister of thick blue smoke to trail out behind the bike.
