Oops. Must be 10 or so supercars wrecked here. Wonder if the driver has NCD protection ?

What 'supercars' are they? I don't recognise any of them.

Hmmmm thanks. I thought there might have been some exaggeration going on here.

Quality cars yes, but "supercars"? Hardly! (With the debatable exception of Aston Martin.)

If these are "supercars", how would they describe the Ferraris, Maseratis, Lamborghinis and McLarens here?

https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/best ... -supercars

Although I note the article coins the term "hypercar" for one of the Ferraris!

At the start, Black Ferrari (I think) under a Red Lamorghini Huracan, under a black Jeg F type, There's a glass engine cover which is probably a Ferrari 430, then a couple of Audi R8, and the orange one at the end is an Aston.

According to today's Daily Mail the driver was a hero. The truck was caught by sudden high winds causing it to swing violently from side to side and the driver, spotting some cyclists ahead, jack knifed it into the side of the road to avoid them.

Not really, the link I quoted said "including Aston Martin, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Alfa Romeo and an Audi", which obviously doesn't preclude there being other makes too.

That must have been quite some gust. A triple-deck car transporter like that one weighs 15-20 tonnes, and then the ten cars - the whole weight must have been 35-40 tonnes in all. And don't forget, it had open sides, so the crosswind would have blown (largely) straight through it. I'd have expected that it would have some pretty beefy anti-jacknifing stabiliser systems as well. Sobering that it came to that sort of a situation for the driver. :|

We had a two-decker turn over in our nearest small town. The truck was rammed in the offside corner by an oncoming light truck, the whole cab was knocked suddenly sideways by the impact, and over it went. Hell of a mess. A miracle that nobody was killed.

[Edit: This one, it was claimed, was caused by a tyre blow-out. Do I feel any safer? Not really. :D https://www.itv.com/news/meridian/2023- ... m3-traffic ]

A hero? Sounds like a pretty incompetent driver if he can't simply drive down a hill in crosswinds.

Scott.
