Quiet roads.

We have a large industrial estate being built near us. That's where I took my kids, though I relied upon professionals to teach the important stuff.

It was great for learning about using the clutch and hill starts. It also had lots of fast roundabouts and the odd lorry, as it's by the motorway and has both Amazon and Sports Direct facilities.

The issue that I had, and what I hoped that the professionals would cover, was the importance of observation (mirrors etc), judging the road conditions and all those little things. Not the mechanics of operating a car. For those sorts of things, you need busy roads.

As said, car parks are great places to practice parking. Especially early on a Sunday when they are not being used.
