nissan 1.2 petrol turbo problems
my 2016 nissan qashqai with its 1.2 turbo engine is now on its fourth trip to the garage .
its already had two leaking oil seals replaced, several days off the road .
there is now a new and different major oil leak , probably the oil cooler .
nissan now join the bargepole gang , together with vauxhall , renault and citroen .
this engine i think is a renault dud , used in the clio and many other models .

Re: nissan 1.2 petrol turbo problems
I had a new Qashqai (1.5 D) a few years ago and within a week it had spewed diesel all over the drive (split fuel lines), within six months needed new engine seals to cure an oil leek and seemed to need a new pair of rear shocks every time it went in for a service. I vowed never to own another Nissan. Since then I've had "real" Japanese cars and never had a problem - Honda x 2, Toyota, Lexus etc. I'm currently driving a Kia Niro - the car is fine but the customer service is rubbish.

Agree entirely. I have a Nissan, which has so far been fine, but the build quality is definitely not what I'd expected. When I replace it, the choice will be Toyota, Honda or possibly a Korean model (long warranty the pro, reports of less than perfect build quality the con).
Nissan are trading on their historic reputation, I think.

i bought a renault16 in 1972.
very comfortable , quiet , fast and economical , a wonderful car , i had two more afterwards .
probably the forerunner to the modern hatchback and crossovers .
unbreakable push rod engine .
its weakness was rust .
then moved onto a renault 25 - nice car but sohc engine camshaft seized by oil starvation.

There are a lot of Hyundai i20 owners who wouldn't regard the warranty as a pro.

Yes, I'd read that.
I'd rather assumed that both Kia and Hyundai must be pretty good to be able to offer their long warranties, but it seems some models in particular have had issues.
Just Toyota and Honda then...

dont these warranties come with an expensive servicing regime?
are we paying for stuff that is already covered under the sale of goods and services ?

Mazda might be worth a look, though a relative had a Mazda 6 diesel which gave quite a bit of trouble. Hard to be objective with a sample of one though

Suzuki? Subaru?
Good options, I suspect, but not for me; a bit out of the ordinary, dearer to buy, and less choice available on the second hand market, also costlier to insure and service from what I have found in initial investigations

..... continuing this saga -----
the new oil leak was in fact the oil cooler , and it was replaced last week , a further 2 trips to garage.
now --- on tuesday , the car wouldnt start !
called out the RAC ( which comes with the three year warranty) .
the man said its probably the battery - as nissan have had some problems with this.
it was in fact the battery , which has now been replaced - with a different make i think .
so another two trips to the garage (40 miles round trip) involving a "courtesy car" - which is an awful manual nissan juke (joke) .
nissan have given me a free service to compensate .
but i am definitely not
