Laser jammer

#200628

Postby swill453 » February 11th, 2019, 6:09 pm

A driver's been jailed for 3 months and fined £1500 for using a laser speed detector jammer on his car. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-47202419

Seems quite harsh to me, but if they class it as perverting the course of justice I suppose it's going to be dealt with quite severely.

Scott.

I'm a bit surprised that the prosecution went for perverting the course of justice. But I suppose they're coming down hard because it's such an obviously premeditated offence. You can't claim that you were accidentally snapped with an expensive gizmo bolted to the front of your car. But it's also a stupid thing to do, because the very same camera that can't read your speed has got a photo of you with the jammer's error code superimposed on it. Not much hope of getting off that one.

I particularly liked the similar story that was linked on the same page. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-y ... e-43872007 . What an eejit.
