Hired car in France for 2 weeks through a comparison site. Bill now received on return to UK and I note that original rate was net of TVA on the comparison site - of course now hit with TVA - maybe I should have looked closer but I know many sites include TVA in their quoted rates. However, the new weez that I have never come across before is a 'flexi return location' fee of 13.33 euros (plus TVA). Of course I have been charged an additional cost in the past when returning a car to a different location from where I originally picked it up. But to be charged for a 'service' I do not want or need!

Indeed, taxe de valeur ajoutée. Not just the equivalent, it's the exact same thing.
I blame those damned Europeans, personally. Still, I'm sure Boris will abolish VAT as he celebrates our historic liberation from the yoke of Brussels. Maybe he'll bring back Green Shield stamps on petrol?BJ
