Driving licence reminder
Has anyone whose photocard driving licence has expired recently had a reminder from the DVLA? According to this page they're supposed to be sent out.
My wife's licence expires tomorrow and hasn't received one.
She just tried to renew online and the process failed because of some "identity check" when she put her passport number in. No further details were given.
We're now wondering if there's some problem with her details on the system, which might explain why she didn't get a reminder.
Scott.

My reminder came in good time, though I am not sure that helps you.

Re: Driving licence reminder
MIne expires 2 Sept
Not a peep from DVLA
I'm updating mine at the last minute
as DVLA issue the new one from the date you apply, NOT the date after the old one expires
WHAT a dopey idea

Re: Driving licence reminder
it also says on that page
"It may take longer for you to get your licence because of coronavirus"
Who knew that computers could catch it

Assuming this was recent, it does help thanks. Reminders still exist!

Re: Driving licence reminder
It's possible the reminder went to the wrong address - I've had a neighbour's before now.
And I know it's a bit different, but the passport people have no Covid problems, I recently had mine replaced and they turned it round in 4 days between receiving the old one and sending out the new one.

Re: Driving licence reminder
I wasn't talking about moving, just it getting delivered to the wrong address. It happens sometimes.

I've just moved home, so had to tell DVLA, my new licence arrived in next to no time.

Coincidentally, my son today received a reminder for his licence renewal, so yes, they are still going out. FWIW it expires on 16 October, so quite a bit of notice.

The expiry date is not that important anyway, as you can successfully renew after it. The only issue with that, rather obviously, is that you cannot drive whilst you wait for the renewal to come through. But in my case it only took a few days anyway, after renewing a week late. (I had been out of the country for several weeks and by the time I renewed, my license had already expired).

Re: Driving licence reminder
ok I renewed mine this morning
was pleasantly surprised that they are going to use the photo from my passport, so no need to upload an image
so while that is quite techy they didn't send me a reminder
