Maxus Pickup EV

Firstly may I wish everyone a Very Happy Christmas, may it be peaceful and relaxed.

Secondly does anyone own or know someone who owns a Maxus Pickup EV. We're having one in about 3 months, hopefully the charger will be fitted by then, but wondered if anyone has one who can point us in the direction of things they find annoying or is it the wonderful vehicle that we've always been waiting for which all manufacturers claim.

Well, that'd give our cheeky local racing cyclists something to think about. That huge mouth with those three rows of gleaming teeth. The only extra I'd want would be an air horn that played the da-da-da-da-da-da theme from Jaws.

£176 a month for a £50K truck? (VAT excluded on both prices.) Where's the catch? The mileage constraint, presumably?

We're getting it for less than half £176 a month, hence OH smiling face. The only thing I'm worried about is being on 5ft tall will I need a ladder:)

Wow - that IS cheap, presumably that is with a larger deposit than the £2k or so in the autoexpress article?

Last time I heard of a lease that cheap was a mate working for Lex wh got a C1 for commuting from Rochdale to Leeds, the lease on the C1 plus all the running costs was less than the fuel commuting in his V8 merc each day.

No, deposit £700, apparently because of some EU regulation (which apparently affects things in this country) the Maxus hadn't met the required sales target which would have meant a ginormous fine, so the company off loaded them onto lease companies which offered them at giveaway rates on 12 or 18month contracts. This was according to the helpful young lady OH dealt with. As I said it was an offer we couldn't ignore as it will give us a chance to try out an all electric vehicle, admitedly not the type we'd considered, and if it suits our needs we can then decide on a more conventional vehicle. At £67 per month unless it handles like a recalcitrant tank, OH thought it was a risk worth taking.

Any cheaper and they'd be paying you!

At 67/m I wouldn't worry!

I must admit, this started to appeal, the 33 year old Toyota has an oil leak, and I just spent far too long repairing a bulb holder before realising I could buy a slot in core for under a fiver and just resolder the wires. £700 down, and £67/month for 18 months in a new electric truck, just under £2k.

So I mentioned it to MrsF, who looked at the truck, and said she'd rather spent the money sorting the oil leak and give the rest to charity. :)

Yes, not exactly a handsome beast is it. Never mind, we live halfway up a mountain and most of our neighbours travel around, even to the pub, in tractors so compared to a big John Deere we won't be noticed. We do have a normal car if we need to attend anything that requires a modicum of discretion, but as my grandson remarked 'at least it'll stand out in a car park'.
