Pampas grass

#143327

Postby Slarti » June 3rd, 2018, 7:25 pm

On Friday Mrs S decided to transplant part of our established pampas grass.

The transplanted bits are looking a bit limp and she wants to "give them a good drink" tomorrow as we haven't had much rain.

But is this a good idea, or should we leave well alone?

Randomly from https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/orname ... -grass.htm

prefers moist, well-draining soil

Presumably your wife watered when relocating but I'd give it some water now. In fact, I probably wouldn't, as we've got far too many clumps of the stuff. ;)

PS This might be of interest, depending on where she replanted:

Fnarrr. Around these parts, as PD suggests, putting a pampas grass in the front garden is like erecting a membership flagpole for the local wife-swapping circle. Our respectable neighbours were forced to move theirs safely out of sight.

Mind you, having a limp pampas is also likely to get the village tongues wagging.

Pampas Grass and swinging is so 80's. The story is nearly 40 years old. I'm not sure if it was ever true but with the internet I'm sure there are better ways of advertising ones interests.

Not that I have any personal knowledge, a friend told me about it....honest.

Thanks all.

Water applied to the Pampas Grass.

Never heard about it being a "swinginger's symbol" and most of the people I know with it wouldn't be into that sort of thing. Any more.
