Here in N Wales we have an exceptional display of May Blossom. All the hawthorn trees are positively dripping with beautiful white blossom, it makes for a cheerful sight and no mistake.

It's out in my garden in Cornwall too, although a little late this year I think. You're right, it is a most cheerful sight!

Re: May Blossom
The flowers have been and are now going here in Sussex. There is a red hawthorn over the road which has been a glorious sight. I took a picture of it on Sunday, 13th May. Next door's big white hawthorn has now lost all its flower.

Cheshire is dripping in white blossom. Seems to be profuse this year. I was taking photos of the damsons whilst out walking the dog a few weeks ago - here's hoping for a bumper crop come summer!

Re: May Blossom
About seven years ago, my wife bought a red-flowering may/hawthorn (Paul's Scarlet), which was supposed to fill a large gap in our border but which sat for all those years, stubbornly refusing to thrive. Very unlike your typical hedgerow tree! But this year it's put on a huge amount of growth and has delivered the most amazing display of flowers.
I imagine that either the long winter or the wet spring (or both) must have kicked it into overdrive? Anyway, the chaffinches are having lots of fun pecking away at the flowers. There are more than enough for all of us to enjoy.

this has prompted me to go look at our pauls scarlet ( crataegus laevigata ) - yes it is out !
they seem to be pretty slow growers .
also another which was sold to me as such , but is a very nice pink! beware false labelling!
