I love lillies and have bought quite a few from street markets (bulbs) with good results
some bought in June and planted end of June were in flower by August...great
so I bought some more from same market (Portugal) in October
I have potted them up and left outside to overwinter
but
they are shooting, some are now 12 inches high
surely they will not flower at this tine of ear?
and if they get 'hit' by winter will they be OK next year
I only potted them because I assumed pots would be similar to being in ground outside overwinter......

Re: lillies again
No idea, sorry, but I'd imagine it would depend on what sort of lilies they are? But google tells me that average December temperatures in Portugal are 14C daytime and 8C at night.
If it were me, and if I were trying to keep them outdoors, I'd bung a cheap plastic bell cloche (about £4) onto them, at least during the colder nights. If they're indoors, there's no obvious reason why they shouldn't be allowed to bloom normally. Mind you, it does sound as though yours have gone a bit leggy. Are they getting enough light?
