Aphids
My rose buds are infested with aphids, and I was wondering about an organic deterrent. Does anyone use washing up liquid or soap, or olive oil spray or similar? Does it work?

But you can get organing soap and I'd imagine that it would help in a few ways; physically as it will wash them off, the soap will allow the water to suffocate most insects (where surface tension normally prevents it entering tiny spirelles) and it will work as a surficant to help remove the honeydew
- so if one had it to hand it would be worth a shot
Neem oil (or sprays derived from it) seem to be the go to for most things - though it seems to do naff all for gall wasps
