Nematode worms frozen 46,000 years in 130ft deep permafrost have been revived.

Here, we present a high-quality genome assembly, detailed morphological phylogenetic analysis, and define a novel species, Panagrolaimus kolymaensis. Precise radiocarbon dating indicates that P. kolymaensis remained in cryptobiosis for about 46,000 years, since the late Pleistocene.

Two thoughts arise.... as the permafrost thaws, what other viable creatures will emerge?

And could their freezable hibernation qualities be transferred to humans to facilitate deep-space voyages, or for that matter time-shift to a future where currently fatal ailments may be curable?
