I am looking at buying/planting a few of these
they look good and will sit well in my planned place

but I cannot find anywhere how many flowers spikes come from one bulb
flower web sites claim masses of flowers on the tall spikes
but having a single tall spike would not achieve my plan

does anyone have expereince of these please

As far as I know, it's just one spike per bulb. :( They'll self-seed, but that's not a quick way to fill a border with any bulb-type plant. My catalogue from Farmer Gracy s recommending 16 plants per square metre. Which would be getting on for forty quid. Ouch. :|

How do you know they will look good if you don't know what they look like?

1) well I do know what they look like...my question remains as knowing what they look like does not answer the question

2) yes its Farmer Gracy I am getting the from
having Googled in an effort to find answer to my question I see planting instructions, including a video showing each star shaped bulb requires quite a bit of space...so I dont know how they can suggest so many in a sq mtr
perhaps wehen they arrive they will be minute....tho how a minute bulb can produce such tall stems is a surprise

order is placed and will give it a go

I don't think the spacing is that tight really - 16 bulbs per square metre would be a spacing of about ten inches in old money. :)

Farmer Gracy is a new name on me, but I was pretty happy with my recent purchase of about 150 tulip bulbs. They're based in the Netherlands, so every order is made up over there and shipped directly to the UK. (I guess they're trying to circumvent the Brexit trade complications? But let's not spend too much time on that one.)

Anyway, the order was fine, if a couple of weeks late because they don't lift their bulbs until they're good and ready. Everything was clearly labelled. The only niggle was that they're now sending me a steady flow of after-sale promotional emails, all of which I've trained to go directly to junk. Still, business is business. Good luck with the order. :)

FAO Bungeejumper

yes I have been buying from Farmer Gracy for a couple of years now and am very impressed with their customer service
i had order which just did not grow despite my best efforts
they replaced within 2 days of me advising of my failure
would def recommend

unlike Thomson Morgan
...from whom I bought 2 montana clematis in Autumn 22 and planted as required
neither grew at all
and when i complained I was told their guarantee was only for 30 days/....not much use for Autumn planting!

I picked one up at LIDL for £1.85 as replacement..and planted in same place...its roaring away...very pleased
