Consultation on new badger cull.

DEFRA has launched a 'consultation' on proposals for more badger culling.

This consultation is part of the government’s bTB Strategy. Achieving OTF status will provide tangible benefits for the cattle industry, rural communities and government. These include significant savings in combating the disease both to government and to industry, increasing the ability to trade[1] internationally and alleviating the social and mental health impacts of the disease on farmers and their businesses.

I am opposed to culling. The Badger Trust submission on the 2021 proposals may be seen here.

Over 94% of bovine TB transmission in cattle is cow-to-cow.
The answer to solving bTB in cattle starts and ends with cattle
UK Government aims to cull between 70% and 90% of badgers in each cull area.
Up to 72% of UK badgers are estimated to be killed by 2025.

Please respond to the 'consultation' and make others aware of it.
It closes on 22nd April.
