21% drop in Santander share price

#148686

Postby Clitheroekid » June 28th, 2018, 6:37 pm

I was surprised, to put it mildly, to see on my ii portfolio that the BNC share price had tanked by 21% today - https://www.ii.co.uk/shares/banco-santander-sa/LSE:BNC - but I’ve not been able to find any comment or news as to why this should be.

At first I just assumed it was another example of ii’s general uselessness, but on checking elsewhere it seems the drop is correct.

Has anyone any idea what's caused this?

The drop is correct, but as far as I can see it did not happen today, but recently. I personally thought it was related to the socialists getting some power in Spain.

I don't think it's dropped 21% today CK....

Whilst the chart you link to shows a 21% drop when looking at the price marked at the top of the page, that price doesn't seem to be reflected in the chart action of the day, or the trades that I've just checked on ADVFN.

It looks to have ended the day around the 405p mark -

The above would seem to be corroborated by the lack of real news that you'd expect to see regarding such a price drop, so fingers crossed that this is just a data-glitch for you, and you can enjoy the football now!

Cheers,

Maybe what you are seeing reflects this (rogue?) trade.

28 Jun 2018 16:38:37 Trade price 317.69 Trade quantity 220,000 Sell

From http://investing.thisismoney.co.uk/trad ... er-SA.html

The chart you linked to shows that last trade price and seems to base the 21% day change on that figure.

A serious question. Why do you say 'ii's general uselessness' ? They are quite useful for me which is just as well as they look after a good chunk of my invested assets.

I agree with Dod, iii have been pretty good with me. Not perfect but pretty good.

Re the BNC drop from 480-ish to 420-ish a month ago I cannot see a good reason. It correlates with the politics but that is not necessarily all of the story. I hold them.
