One of the iconic Vietnam protest songs; this appears to be 'studio-live'.

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son (Live) (1969)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Okmb6WG2QYE
'The Ed Sullivan Show live Performance by CCR in 1969. "Fortunate Son" is a song by Creedence Clearwater Revival released on their album Willy and the Poor Boys in 1969. It was released as a single, together with "Down on the Corner", in September 1969. This song reached #14 on the United States charts on 22 November 1969, the week before Billboard changed its methodology on double-sided hits. The tracks combined to climb to #9 the next week, on the way to peaking at #3 three more weeks later, on 20 December 1969. It won the RIAA Gold Disc award in December 1970. Pitchfork Media placed it at number 17 on its list of "The 200 Greatest Songs of the 1960s". Rolling Stone placed it at #99 on its "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" list. In 2014, the song was added to the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."'

That said, not sure ^it is studio-live, as here's a version clearly live from a concert at the Albert Hall in 1970, and they have it note perfect. It's a more impassioned up-tempo version vs the top one, but has a couple of tape creases along the way - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_Vd1_cCWb4

Protest songs? Can't post links from this tablet but I vote for Ohio (CSNY) and For What it's Worth (Buffalo Springfield)
Neil Young involved in both of course. Currently reading his autobiography, Waging Heavy Peace, which is rather good

Awww, come on I said 'one of the iconic Vietnam protest songs', rather than 'The'. It'd make a whole sub-genre, as there are some constituents that others (who might be interested) hadn't realised were slightly more obtuse about their inherent protesting nature.
Neil Young seems to have spent his life writing various protest songs; but somehow he does it in a far less abrasive way than say the likes of U2 etc. Hehe, maybe that would be an appropriate rebranding for the latter, 'U2 Etc'

- Meanwhile I might score the hat-trick on this sub-topic, having seen CSN, NY [twice], and CSN+Y all play separate concerts.

You are indeed fortunate. I've only seen C&N sing together, thanks to a Fool, but one of my first two albums had a sense of Déjà Vu. The other being "Volunteers", also featuring C&S. The latter apparently being a "strong anti-war" album, including:

Wooden Ships (this one with Grace Slick from 1989)

This one must be high on the list, I have the single somewhere or other:

Nico - I'm Waiting For The Man - (Live at the Warehouse, Preston, UK, 1982)

Saw her a year later in the Bodington Hall (of residence) student bar at Leeds Uni in 1983. It was memorable for two reasons, a) who she was/what it represented, and playing to no more than 100 'kids' on £3 tickets. b) She was off her face (as in this vid) and yet quite mesmerising. A mate Sid, killed himself on his motorbike on the way home from that night out.
The only other band I've seen with quite similar a clearly pushing well beyond this worldly limit presence that it's seriously haunting were the Nine Inch Nails.

I wasn't suggesting mine were 'better' in any way!
Neither are Vietnam protest songs anyway, well not directly

I thought some would notice, there being some discussion earlier on left-handed and having the heavier strings in the bottom. Hendrix swopped the strings around, some people didn't or don't bother (Eric Gales).

Can't say I listen to all nor like all the music I've heard in this thread. In fact I usually avoid links which don't say what the music is or who it is by. However, I don't really understand your two comments as above. Isn't beauty in the eye of the beholder etc?

If you really think the mods should delete, then you'll need to use the button and give a good reason. Then I'd imagine they'll pass ...

MrsDE was watching The Hand-maid's Tale on TV last night. I walked into the room right as it ended and was stunned by the music playing  It was during the 'outro' right at the end.
Who'd have thought: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ue5jyj_nosc 'X Ray Spex - Identity - 1978 video complete'

Found the vid on YT and played it for her, and she was like 'Is this the same? [it's so skanky]'. That's right, punk was totally skanky, kinda the point
