Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young are all still alive

#308728

Postby Lootman » May 14th, 2020, 7:46 pm

Is there any other significant band from 50 years ago whose original members are all still alive?

Not quite 50 years but not far off, aren't all four of ABBA still with us?

They announced they were disbanded, though I think there are comeback rumours.

What about the Moody Blues? They haven't done much recently but seem to still exist with all members from the 60s. Though others have come and gone over the years.

Scott.

I guess my question was imprecise, because I didn't include the factor that the band must have been continually playing in their original lineup. Very few bands do that even when all the members are alive.

CSNY continually form and reform, and it has hardly been a stable alliance. They just haven't died yet despite all being well into their seventies.

The second incarnation of Fleetwood Mac would be a candidate

... and sticking with CSN&Y, assuming they still have any, Have they almost Cut their Hair?

If so where?

Almost cut my hair
Happened just the other day
It's gettin' kind of long
I could've said it was in my way ...

Must be because I had the flu this Christmas
And I'm not feeling up to par

Beach Boys were founded by 3 brothers Wilson, Brian is still alive but Carl died in the oops 90s and the other one Denis I've just checked in the 80s.

I think Buckingham may no longer be with the band- I think he was fired.

Come on, folks, anybody knows that there's an older band than Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young whose members are still alive. ;)

It used to be called Crosby, Stills and Nash. (Formed 1968.) Young added his peculiarly whiny voice the following year, and half a century later I'm still trying to like it. Or even get used to it, dammit. Like a slightly off-tune violin being played with too much sticky rosin on the bow. Anybody know what I'm on about?

The OP clarified the question to:

Oh and they were never known as Crosby, Stills and Nash as far as I am aware https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crosby,_S ... ash_(album) :)

PD - First proper album (ignoring the old beat combo and similar albums) purchased Déjà Vu, along with Volunteers and the all too obvious link.

Hmmm, I think they were, you know. I bought https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crosby,_S ... ash_(album)), and it said Crosby, Stills and Nash on the cover, and on the label too.

And at the time, of course, Neil young was elsewhere (soloing, and with Crazy Horse), which is probably why he later credited Crosby, Stills and Nash among his role models. And then joined them. ;)

It was all downhill from there, for me at least. For other people, apparently, not so much.
