You know, I tried and I tried and I could never find anything remotely funny about that show. Perhaps it was because none of the characters were even vaguely sympathetic? I don't know but I had a good shot at it because so many people I know liked it, but I don't think I ever raised even a snigger. I think it is one of those shows that you either get or you don't.

In their day I loved Cheers and Frasier, as examples of funny US sitcoms. And surely Airplane! has to be one of the great funny films of all time? 40 years old and yet somehow timeless.

It's all very subjective of course. With Seinfeld I think you need to watch the series in order as there are ongoing story arcs and ..erm.. 'callbacks'. Some people just don't like it of course. I could never understand why 'Friends' was so popular...as Will Self said it's just a load of 'kidults' on an eternal sleepover

At 60 + years, Bilko was & still is the funniest US comedy series. It was all down hill after that.

An honourable mention to M.A.S.H. from me, but Id give a large thumbs up to Bilko. There were a bunch of them run on UK TV when I was probably about 11 years on and older... I used to try and stay up late on a Saturday night (late here probably being 10pm!) and would inevitably fall asleep most weeks half way through the show cos I was a tired child! LOL.

and look what I just found...
