Unforgotten
On a thread discussing Silent Witness a few years ago, some reference was made to Unforgotten - starring the excellent Nicola Walker. The latest series commenced about 3 weeks ago. Highly recommended with Walker against marvellous backed up with a great cast and excellent script. The contrast with Bloodlands in terms of acting and credibility is very evident.

Re: Unforgotten
Well this series just gets better and better. Some of the vignettes are superb - just watch and listen to the 2/3 mins scene with the retired trainer from the Police Academy and look at the facial expressions of Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhasgar - not a Bloodlands' gurn in sight.

nothing but agreement in this household, a genuine return to a one screen evening, as opposed to one on the telly and one on the laptop/iPad

Re: Unforgotten
Binged the first series last week, now started on the second. I have to agree that these are excellent. Good fun seeing the names from my younger days turning up too...Trevor Eve, Hannah Gordon.

Re: Unforgotten
I'm so face blind I hadn't realised who was in it (other than Ruth from Spooks obviously). But Trevor Eve - I thought he looked familiar - I'll have to impress my OH now (as long as I "recognise" the right actor)

Is this on ITV? If so I tried to find the first series and couldn’t through the ITV hub. Am I looking in the wrong place? Thx.

I can't see that Series 1 or 2 is available? This link (https://www.itv.com/hub/unforgotten/2a3372) only has Series 3, and the current one (Series 4) - although only up to Ep4 so far!

Re: Unforgotten
Just started so thx for the heads up, many familiar faces. Thx John for mentioning Netflix, suppose after Series Three I could continue with ITV for Series 4.
So far so good. Going to be a cracker.

Re: Unforgotten
Brilliant series. Up to date now, watched them all. So many faces I recognize of old. Started Endeavour, perhaps a bit dated now after seeing Unforgotten but will give it a go and see where it leads.

It leads to Morse
But seriously, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Possibly partly because I grew up in the late fifties and the sixties and I'm a sucker for a bit of nostalgia, but if you watched Morse, it's also interesting to see how they introduce some of the characters who later figure in Morse episodes.

Re: Unforgotten
Getting back to Unforgotten - this series continues to excel - every new vignette is excellent. Having wiped out Bloodlands - it now faces serious competition from the latest and excellent Line of Duty. Indeed, the end scene of episode 5 Unforgotten was very much Line of Duty.

I prefer Unforgotten to Line of Duty, not sure why.
But I agree that the closing scene of this week's episode of Unforgotten was a bit of a surprise.

Re: Unforgotten
Never seen Morse.. but the scenery in Endeavour, the music and nostalgia is pleasing and atmospheric but think I have been spoilt by not watching many British detective series apart from Dixon of Dock Green, Z cars with a bit of Minders, that’s it really until Line of Duty, the dreadful Bloodlands and now the brilliant Unforgotten, so possibly a bit spoilt as Endeavour a little dated obviously in comparison, but will “endeavour” to persevere.

I designed the SFX and blew up the rocket in Series 6 Episode 2.

Re: Unforgotten
SPOILERS
DO NOT SCROLL DOWN IF YOU HAVE YET TO SEE FINAL EPISODE
After such brilliant previous episodes, the finale was somewhat flat with very little to surprise. Lot of loose ends which made little sense (ie why were the 'four' not more inquisitive as to what happened with the body some 20 years ago?, what a coincidence that the victim turns up in the same pub and just happens to be a member of a gang at war with Dean's family, the so easy to trace bank transactions re the cocaine smuggling?, the mobile t/p left on so easy to track etc etc). Then the protracted ending which lingered on for 10 minutes or so after the death of our heroine. Somewhat let down

Re: Unforgotten
More Spoilers...............
Agreed, a bit of a letdown. However the Indian Detective actor throughout the series was really excellent and although I wonder why they killed our leading Lady off(last of the series or she had enough as how much more blood can you get out of the same stone?) he made up in the end for what was good entertainment.

Re: Unforgotten
SPOILER
Yep, agreed re the final. The bank accounts with the easy to follow trail, none of the suspects "lawyered up" or had a union rep present, and the culprit's acting I found odd. The final 10 minutes were a bit out of place somehow and too long in a crime drama.
