I had the Jungle Book record in the late 60's, used to put it on my portable record player before going to sleep and listen to it under the duvet - very exciting and scary, all the jungle sounds, Kaa, Shere Khan, et al.

I like John Carpenter's scores for his own films, particularly The Fog

Yes I know what you mean. One of the most entertaining films is Big Trouble in Little China.

Very sad to hear the news this week of the death of Jóhann Jóhannsson at the young age of 48.

Anyone who has seen Arrival or Sicario will know that his music not just inhabits films, but drives them to be what they are. I cannot imagine either of those two fantastic films being anywhere near their splendour were it not for Jóhannsson's scores.

Some memorable highlights -

Heptapod B - (Arrival Soundtrack) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0ahB25FJ6o

Sicario - 'The Beast' - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTedsOULqX0

One of his best non-film tracks - 'Sun's gone dim' - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iv4CuIIspdE

RIP Jóhann Jóhannsson..

I had a book about a lion called Christian, IIRC they made a film about it, this gay couple bought a lion pup from Harrod's in the late 60's. I loved that book.

Amazing to see how well the soundtrack to 'The Greatest Showman' is doing -

The Greatest Showman soundtrack is number one in the UK for the 11th week in a row - more than any other album in modern chart history except Adele's 21.

The soundtrack hasn't loosened its grip on the top spot since January, and has seen off competition from the likes of Craig David and Camila Cabello.

It has sold 465,000 copies - more than 40% of which have been on CD and vinyl, the Official Charts Company said.

Not seen the film yet, but really looking forward to it.
