I agree with the comment on YouTube that this is probably one of the best "feel good" songs of all time.

In the same vein and from way back then is this outfit who, I believe, are still at it today.

I made my first visit to Disneyland, Anaheim in 1967 and the above were the afternoon attraction with these as the evening performers and, I believe, also still at it.

A different world then.

Nice, I bet that made for a memorable day out. Also interesting that Disney was featuring bands like that as entertainment.

Here's another one from the same period that I have always liked. It reached #8 in the Billboard Hot 100 in 1968.

Moving on a decade or two, I'd like to add this by Bruce Hornsby & The Range (one time Grateful Dead)
and
This by Fleetwood Mac featuring Rik Vito (Lead guitar) and Dorsey William "Billy" Burnette III (Rythmn guitar). Burnette is the nephew of Johnny Burnette who had mega hits with Dreamin' & You're 16 on the Billboard 100 and UK Top 20 in 1960.

Going back more decades than I wish to remember. The first two 45's I ever bought.

At The HopDanny & The Juniors
Sorry The Impalas

Good to see black and white guys flippin the bird to all those race detractors. It was, after all, the '50s.

It's got to have been Terry. I doubt very much that it would have been Arthur Daley. :)

I'm sure most of you know Jefferson Airplane's White Rabbit.

Well, here's the very different original version, when Grace Slick was with The Great Society, recorded live at The Matrix. A mix of psychedelic and middle-eastern sound with (according to rumour) Grace playing the oboe.

This has always rated as a classic in my time from the occasion I first heard it where it certainly justified a 'wow'. The stories still, to this day, abound as to who actually performed on it.

My take is that Donovan stated that he wanted Jimi Hendrix to play but he was unavailable, so he asked for Jimmy Page instead but he was in the US with Jerry Wrexler. Mickie Most got Jeff Beck to do the electric guitar work which was wiped by Most. Finally Alan Parker was drafted in to do the electric guitar work with John Paul Jones on bass and Clem Cattini on drums. As to whether Donovan crafted the spawning of Led Zep by featuring Page and Bonham on it will, I suspect, always remain a mystery.

At the end of the day, whoever did it, just amaze yourselves at the calibre of musicians that were and could have been available to cut a single record at that point in history.

Here's another Scottish poet and I can confirm that Jimmy Page did do the guitar work. G*d, don't you just want to hate the guy.

This is 18 miutes long so try and stick with it.

Whenever I run it I require 3 sessions. The 1st to just absorb Page bending those keys. The 2nd to remenice the melancholy lyrics. I defy any guy to say "they have never been there". The third, well just to enjoy it.

Keeping with the underlying Scotish theme, This guy would have been best placed lip syncing to this particular version (Live in the City of Light) rather than his cringeworthy live performance on Strictly etc.last year.
The signature song from The Breakfast Club, a global hit for them in 1985, was originally offered to Chrissie Hynde. She apparently turned the song down, as it required a video and at the time she was pregnant, so she offered the producers her husband, Jim Kerr and Simple Minds.

This is only a 50% Scotish union, so a tint rather than a theme. However the tint being the late Eric Wolfson who was without doubt, a great poet/songwriter. Blend his poetry with the musical skills of the Grammy Award winning engineer behind 'Dark Side of the Moon' and you have The Alan Parsons Project. With ten albums between 1975 and 1990 these three are probably their most well known tracks.
Sirrus-Eye in the Sky
Primetime
Amonia Avenue
Enjoy.

I'm not that familiar with Simple Minds, but have really liked this song of theirs ever since hearing it during my uni days. I used to have it on a 12" single, and it's one of the very few records I regret having sold.
