He seems to have quite busy http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000546/#actor

Busy yes, but in nothing decent, utter rubbish straight to DVD and second rate TV. (didn't have to look at the link)

Well Notting Hill, The West Wing, Girl in Progress and The Dark Knight Rises all seem to be OK.
As for the American TV that didn't get here, how can we judge?

Well, I was just curious because he studied under Adler and worked with Kubrick, and was a rising star in the 80's, worked in really good and interesting films, but I think the final nail in the coffin was 1995 film Cutthroat Island which bombed in the box office and sunk Geena Davis and director Renny Harlin.

Started the 5th episode, have to say I have been struggling lately to watch any films or TV but this one is really good.

To resurrect this slightly...

Also on Netflix...

If you like West Wing or Homeland...Designated Survivor

Traditionally one member of congress has to be officially somewhere else during the state of the union address in case congress gets blown up and everybody dies so there's still someone to become president. Guess what?

If you like Breaking Bad and Fargo...Ozark

Guys accountancy firm launders money for a Mexican drug cartel. It all goes tits up and he has to start again moving his family to the Ozarks trying to launder 8 million dollars in three months. Only two episodes in but it's very good so far.

If you like...ummm...no...I've got nothing....Gourmet Samurai

Japanese businessman retires and struggles with what his purpose in life is now, goes and has some lunches, causing him to reminisce and have some entertaining encounters. It's a bit odd, okay, fairly odd, but it's really warm hearted, and just completely different to anything else I've seen. A breath of fresh air.

Watched the first episode of Lucifer last night.

"Lucifer is an American fantasy police procedural comedy-drama television series"

"This horror black comedy series is based on the characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint. It’s the story of the original fallen angel — Lucifer.

Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) has abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles."

Whiled away an hour with a few chuckles. Surprisingly, it is made by Fox and shown on their channel. Bot at all their usual stuff.

Oh and we have also been enjoying Killjoys on SciFi. But you really do need to go and find the 1st series, not just jump in at the end of season 3.

Stranger Things second season on Friday 27th. Might have to get Netflix for a month again, 2-3 mildly interesting new films there too.

'Gotham' has been my top-favourite TV series of the last few years. Brilliant, if you like that sort of thing.

That's excellent news. One of the best things on TV for many years.

Se quien eres, Season 2, resuming on BBC4 this weekend. You need to have watched Season 1 though...

Glad you like it. My DVDs of 19-2 are out on almost permanent loan as the word spreads (I have bought spares for myself!). Several people who have borrowed them have then bought whatever DVDs they can get; one even bought a multi-region DVD player specifically so that he can watch the final two series on American DVDs.

For those who are interested, series 1 & 2 of 19-2 are available on UK DVD and are free online to Amazon Prime subscribers. Both series' DVDs are subtitled. Unfortunately series 3 & 4 (the final two series) have not been released on UK DVD and apparently there are no plans to do so.

Series 3 has however been released on DVD in Germany and series 4 is due to be released there in February - you can get the English audio track very easily but unfortunately there are no subtitles. Series 3 has also been released in America with subtitles, series 4 is out tomorrow and the product description says that it is also subtitled (the American DVDs are region 1 so you need a multi-region player).

Anyone who is feeling bold might like to try the original French-Canadian series on DVD. Unfortunately there are no subtitles on the DVDs and school French isn't enough to cut it because Quebec French has quite a few differences from continental French.

I was delighted to see that the new series was up to scratch. It really is one of the best `sitcoms' - in fact one of the best things on TV - that I've ever watched, and I was sad to hear that this will be the last series.

I put the word `sitcoms' in quotes as this is about as far removed from the average crappy sitcom as can be imagined. Although there's a lot of gentle and subtle humour it's also profoundly moving at times.

I found the time shift sequence at the end remarkably affecting. If you don't want to watch the full episode the sequence starts at around 23:30 - https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b ... -episode-1

TV treasure in every sense.

Peaky Blinders is back for a new series next Wednesday 15th November, BBC2 9pm.

It's brilliant. Top cast - top stories - top soundtrack - what's not to like?

Cheers,
