Used to listen to these on a tranny under the bedsheets. A 'Peel session' was often a weekly 3 track studio/live session, and Peel 'broke' many emerging bands into the wider audience in this way.
I found the Damned one, then noticed the 'on-links' on the right... cld make a long evening nostalgic of this

Re: John Peel Show 'Sessions': Late 70s punk/new wave
There's nowt like a bit of nostalgia...
I saw The Damned last week, and they were on fine form, and will be seeing The Stranglers in March. I still have several cassette recording of Peel Sessions on TDK C90s recorded from his radio show and occasionally they get a playing, usually when I'm tidying the garage for some reason. There are of course many available on CD and I have several of those too including Magazine and the Fall. I've also got several cassette recordings of his 'Festive 50' and they really make great listening, and sometimes pop up on the radio and are available on Spotify too. I highly recommend them to anyone who listened during the heydays of the late 70s.
John Peel wasn't everyone's cup of tea musically or indeed other aspects of his life, but I had the pleasure of talking to him on 3 or 4 occasions and he was engaging and very generous with his time.
And if you've still got the appetite for new bands, and like the type of music mentioned above, check out 'Shame' on Spotify, a bunch of young Londoners who I'm really looking forward to seeing in April.
