Hunt's wife is on the CCP's payroll:
The wife of former Cabinet Minister Jeremy Hunt presents a TV show for China’s state-run media that has been accused of ‘whitewashing’ the Communist Party’s human rights abuses.

Lucia Guo, who has three children with the former Health Secretary and Foreign Secretary, appears on China Hour, a series broadcast on Sky TV that showcases Chinese culture to a UK audience.

It is made by the state-owned China International TV Corporation and British-based Dove Media, in partnership with the Communist regime’s tourist office in London.

I hope that he never become PM!

Well we are getting a new one next week, so who knows.

Hunt has ruled himself out as far as standing in the leadership election is concerned

Does that mean in Tory speak he is standing for Conservative Leader?

Confusing all this politics, Putin saying he's not going to invade Ukraine days before he did. Tories breaking many manifesto promises and doing so many U-turns/spins it's like watching Strictly Come Dancing.

The Government is sovereign, but because the economy is weak Govt has to pay attention to the concerns of buyers of its debt.

Jonathan Freedland puts it so well, regarding the 'mini budget'

The financial markets recoiled from a plan that would have seen the government borrow to pay not only for tax cuts but for Truss’s already announced £150bn spend on energy bills. They could see what Truss wanted to spend, but could detect no sign of how she hoped to pay for it. The price of government borrowing rose in real time, while Kwarteng was still on his feet. Money talked – and what it said to Truss and her chancellor was: “You don’t know what you’re doing.”

Who is sovereign? Any of the suspects mentioned above perhaps, but it's also important to reflect on who ought to be sovereign?. A simple exposition is to be found in
https://wzb.eu/en/research/corona-und-die-folgen/wer-ist-der-souveran
i.e. "In democracies, the people is(sic) the sovereign"

Judging by what's currently going on in the Tory party, we should perhaps be asking "are we really a democracy"?

This is a sort false questioon. We are sovereign - we could do whatever we like, pass silly laws, be beastly to other countries and all manner of things. But whenever a country, and government or a free individual takes an action, they also have to enjoy (or otherwise) the consequences of that action.

In this case, do something which has an impact on the money markets and it is reasonable that they have a view on it and either rejoice or push back. This is falsehood at the heart of the Brexit philosophy which has been blown out of the water since 2016. Taking back control was only a slogan and had little traction in real life. We do not live in isolation as a country any more than as individuals.

Action and reaction are just facts of life. Or looked at another we: we must consider the impact on those around us as the world is interconnected and what you give out you will surely receive back, for good or otherwise.
