Independent Change Independent Group MP Group Change

I missed this one until this morning

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... ose-brexit

The former Tory MP Heidi Allen, who quit the fledgling party Change UK after four months, has announced that independent MPs will form another new parliamentary group, to be known as The Independents.

A little history...

Some MPs left Labour and Conservatives.
Those MPs then formed The Independent Group.
The Independent Group formed a Party called Change UK.
A lot of the Change UK MPs left to become independents, including the party's leader.
One of those MPs decided not to be independent and to join the Liberal Democrats.
Change UK changed its name to Independent Group for Change.
The former Change UK MPs that had not joined the Liberal Democrats formed a new group called The Independents.

Not remarkable if it had happened over a decade or two, but this has all happened in 5 months!

One poster on here told us that...

So who is the "existential threat"? Is it The Independent Group for Change? Is it the Liberal Deomcrats now they have Chukka in their ranks? Is it The Independents?

Well, there are certainly a lot of changes going on! So, possibly 'change' or 'changes' is an "existential threat to both main parties"?

Indeed, change may be an existential threat for the Conservatives and Labour, but Change are just an existential threat to the reputation of anyone involved and who judged them to be in any way significant!

I am not aware of all of the details, but in a number of the seats held by the non party change MPs there are existing lib dem ppcs. The one in streatham stood down which helped chucka join. Their splitting of the vote in the euros will make persuading people to stand down harder.
