Following on from actor Eddie Redmayne's apology for playing a transgender character in 2015 film The Danish Girl, a role which many believe should have gone to a genuine transgender actor, I would also like to apologise for my portrayal of the Innkeeper in my primary school nativity play circa 1959.
Clearly I was neither a native of Jerusalem nor did I hold any kind of license to serve alcohol.

Re: An Apology
I don't think you need apologise at all. It is sufficient to identify as the character to qualify. C.brightncheerful wrote:Clearly I was neither a native of Jerusalem nor did I hold any kind of license to serve alcohol.

You are also guilty of 'Cultural Appropriation.' Not many people understand or care what it means but you are guilty...probably...maybe. Just as the Black & White Minstrels for 'blacking up' and Michael and Janet Jackson for changing their skin colour to...
Steve
PS I would like to apologise for just about everything...

Re: An Apology
I tender abject apologies for appearing as a ten-year-old shepherd in a Methodist nativity play.

Re: An Apology
My 16 year old grandson, who wants to be an actor, has just been highly commended for playing someone who is gay and has HIV in a group sketch as part of his A Level drama exam. So far as I am aware he isn't and hasn't (he has a girlfriend apparently) so perhaps I should apologise on his behalf. OTOH I doubt if there would be too many in his school year who would actually fit the bill so maybe spending most of his time waiting at table or behind a bar in the years to come will be penance enough.

Re: An Apology
The morris dancing team in our village wish to apologise for any offence that might have been inadvertently caused by their habitually dressing up as Turks, women, horses, dragons and total prats. And to reassure the public that no Turks, women or horses have been hurt during their shows. They are always on the lookout for fresh prats, though.

Re: An Apology
as long as the total prats are ok, that's the main thing
I always thought they are in plentiful supply
