I was walking out of Kings Cross station when I saw a poor dishevelled man sitting on the pavement, his clothes were in tatters and he had a small empty tin in front of him.
He held a makeshift placard on which was written "Falkland Islands Veteran - Starving!"
I was horrified that in this day and age any government could be so uncaring as to allow a man who served his country in times of strife to end up begging for food.
I rolled up a £20 note and popped it in his tin.
He looked up and responded "Gracias Senor"!

Re: Disgraceful
.... as distinct from the Pembroke College Cambridge law student who, just over a year ago, when dressed in white tie and tails, burned a £20 note in front of a homeless beggar.

The joke was on him:

He appeared to apologise, mainly to fellow students and Cambridge:

Worse still, he attended "Awareness classes".
